Author of BLACK MOON (Hogarth 2014) and professor of design.

The subject has published short fiction in The Paris Review, Ploughshares, Tin House, Fence Magazine, New Stories from the South and the O. Henry Prize Stories anthology and other fine places. His novel, BLACK MOON, was published by Hogarth in 2014 and was a finalist for the PEN/Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction.

The subject grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, where he was the middle child, raised by his American father and Filipino mother. He studied Literature and Writing at UCSD and attended MFA programs at San Diego State and Emerson College. He lives in Boston, where he teaches graphic design and, occasionally, short fiction writing, at Lasell University.

The subject is currently working on his second, third and seventh novel.
